Chiropractic & movement care

Steady spines. Honest timelines.

Terra Flint is a two-room practice for people whose back, neck or shoulder has stopped cooperating. Care starts with a proper assessment, the technique is explained before it is used, and you are told how many visits we expect before you agree to any of it.

  • First visit45 minutes, assessment led
  • MethodsAdjustment, soft tissue, loaded rehab
  • Later hoursTuesday & Thursday until 20:00

What we treat

Find the complaint that sounds like yours

Five areas make up most of what comes through the door. Each one has a typical visit length and a point where we stop and reassess rather than quietly carry on.

  1. 01

    Low back pain & sciatica

Lifting strains, mornings that start stiff, and leg pain that tracks below the knee. We screen for the signs that need imaging first, then work on the joints and the muscles holding the pattern in place.

First visit 45 min · Follow-ups 25 min · Reassessed at visit four

  2. 02

    Neck, jaw & tension headaches

Headaches that begin at the base of the skull, a neck that will only turn one way, jaw tightness that worsens under deadline. Treatment is gentler here and we often start with soft tissue rather than adjustment.

First visit 45 min · Follow-ups 25 min · Reassessed at visit three

  3. 03

Shoulder & upper back under desk load

Mid-back aching by mid-afternoon, shoulders that sit forward, pins and needles into the arm after long typing sessions. We look at your working setup as part of the assessment, not as an afterthought.

    First visit 45 min · Follow-ups 25 min · Includes a desk review

  4. 04

    Hip, knee & running mechanics

Hip pinching at the end of a stride, knees that complain on stairs, niggles that return at the same weekly mileage. Sessions combine treatment with graded loading, and we film your gait if it helps explain what we see.

First visit 45 min · Rehab review 30 min · Plan written for your training week

  5. 05

    Pregnancy & postnatal care

Pelvic and low back discomfort during pregnancy, and the return to lifting afterwards. Positioning is adapted with cushions and side-lying support, and techniques are chosen for the stage you are at.

    First visit 45 min · Follow-ups 25 min · Low-force techniques only

Your first visit

Forty-five minutes, accounted for

Nobody should book an appointment without knowing what happens in it. This is the shape of a first visit at Terra Flint.

  1. Step one · 10 min

    History

What you were doing when it started, what makes it worse, how you sleep, and what you are trying to get back to.

  2. Step two · 20 min

    Assessment

Movement testing, joint and muscle checks, and neurological screening where your symptoms call for it.

  3. Step three · 10 min

    First treatment

If the findings support it, we treat on the same day and tell you what each technique will feel like beforehand.

  4. Step four · 5 min

    The plan

You leave knowing the expected number of visits, what should change first, and the date we review it all.

If the assessment shows chiropractic is not the right answer for you, we say so at the end of that first visit rather than booking you in again.

How we work

Two rooms, no open-ended plans

Terra Flint was set up by two practitioners who were tired of care that renewed itself indefinitely. We keep the diary small enough that you see the same person each time and they remember what changed since the last visit.

Adjustment is one tool among several. Soft tissue work, graded loading and a short set of things to do at home usually matter more over a course of care, so you should expect to be given exercises and asked about them.

Progress is measured against what you came in for, written down at the first visit. If it has not moved by the review date, we change the approach instead of repeating it.

We will tell you plainly if

  • your symptoms point to something that needs a GP or imaging before any treatment
  • the pattern has not shifted by the review visit and a different discipline would serve you better
  • what you need is a strength programme rather than ongoing hands-on treatment
  • you are better off managing this yourself with a few exercises and no appointments at all

Questions

What people ask before booking

Will the treatment hurt?

An adjustment itself is quick and usually painless. Soft tissue work on a tight area can be uncomfortable while it is happening, and we work at a pressure you confirm is manageable. It is common to feel mildly achy for a day afterwards, similar to the day after unfamiliar exercise.

Do I need a referral or a scan first?

No referral is needed to book. Most back and neck complaints do not require imaging, and a scan rarely changes the treatment plan. If your assessment turns up anything that does warrant imaging or a medical opinion, we will tell you at that visit and explain what to ask for.

How many visits will I need?

For a straightforward recent complaint, usually three to six. Longer-standing problems take more, and we set a review point rather than booking an open-ended course. You will have a number and a review date in writing before you leave the first appointment.

What is the cracking noise, and is it safe?

It is gas moving within the joint fluid as the joint surfaces separate slightly. It is not bone, and the sound has nothing to do with how well the treatment worked. If you would rather avoid it entirely, we have low-force techniques that achieve similar results, so just say so.

Can I come while I am pregnant?

Yes. Positioning is adapted with cushions and side-lying support, and we use low-force techniques throughout. Tell us the stage you are at when you book so the right room and bolsters are set up in advance.

Should I still exercise between appointments?

Almost always yes, with specifics. You will get two or three movements to do at home and clear guidance on what to keep doing, what to scale back temporarily, and what to stop. Complete rest tends to make most back complaints last longer.

What happens if chiropractic is not right for my problem?

We say so and point you to what is. That might be your GP, a podiatrist, a strength coach or a specialist assessment. You will not be booked into a second appointment to be told the same thing more slowly.
